Entity crosswalk

Resolving a transfer to a player

2026-09-entity-crosswalk-v2

A transfer database records where a player is registered; a match-event source records where he lined up. The crosswalk joins the two, and refuses any pairing it cannot make uniquely — a wrong join would score a participant against another player's football with nothing downstream to reveal it.

Frozen. This page is written once and never edited. A correction is a new version and a changelog entry naming what it replaced.

Name plus birth year within one, unique onlyReconciled from season stats rather than match rows: match rows carry a name and nothing else identifying, and matching on name alone is how a case gets attached to the wrong player.
